I'm in the dog yard with The Huntress this morning, and by golly there is the side-yard rabbit in her favorite corner munching wild rose stems and hips like every other day. She stops when I spot her and just stands still waiting for the dog to start the chase. Bunny does her circle around the trees and bushes and easily outdistances the pup, running past me and out through the fence. Fantastic! I was so worried she was the one on the menu previously.

A couple of hours later I realize there is the driveway rabbit by the truck again, lazily eating apples I had tossed there, and totally ignoring the pup and myself in his dining.

Note: I do not believe this is same as the side-yard rabbit because he usually stays by the driveway near the truck (hence I sometimes call him driveway bunny) while the other is always on the other side of the dog yard near my shed and the woods there.

Regardless, he is alive as well! I don't know where the fox found the other bunny but there have been three here on occasion at mating times.

Another note: I call them by their respective pronouns because of where I usually find the kittens nesting.

So happy! I even got some pictures of a very cooperative driveway bunny.

Driveway bunny? I haven't heard that name in years...

At least Violet's back to outrun the Huntress another day. :)

I think she knows the dog won't be able to catch her, and equally so about me. :o)

I think the bunnies feel safer in the dog yard than out. Twice we've had Fisher Cats back there (known about at least), and the occasional owl or hawk, but they feel safe enough to make nests for their kittens just off the paths. It must seem great sport to out-distance the dog, and they run right by me without a second look :o)

Yes, it is. I was very sad to think it was one of these two rabbits. I do believe the rabbits come into the dog's yard and feed because they think the fox will not dare. They trust The Huntress to not be able to catch them over being out in the open areas.

Maybe they are there to deliver your Easter eggs early! Though it's more likely they are looking for food and will only leave "black jelly beans" in the yard. *chuckles*

The Huntress enjoys those little treats in the back yard, and just loves giving kisses when back inside!

It's been interesting trying to figure out this week just how many rabbits there are here. I need more close ups to go over markings and such.

One was nibbling grass at the front steps just two days ago (The Huntress missed that one). I love Springtime!

There have been a few bunnies hanging around here lately as well. My dog is not thrilled about this, but they can be fun to watch.

Spring is indeed coming, though I'm not putting away the Winter stuff until May!

Our dog just can't bark enough when there is a rabbit out front. The picture window is generally all dogged up after her spree ;o) I love watching the rabbits and the dog can tell when I get the camera that there is barking to do.

Spring is so much closer! We finally got a bit of sun along with 50 degree weather.
